FRESNO, Calif. (KGPE) – The Walnut industry is facing a slow recovery. More than 99% of walnuts in the U.S. are grown in the Central Valley.
Right now, walnut growers are trying to balance supply and demand issues.
According to RaboResearch Food and Agribusiness, walnut production may not decline as fast as acreage because growers are taking out older, less productive trees and “heritage” varieties.
Growers are also removing orchards in areas where water availability or soil quality is poor.
